SKILLS CENTRE

The New Zealand Football Skills Centres provide an aligned, co-ordinated approach to junior footballers, aged 9-12 years, wishing to access a higher level of provision. Its main aim is to provide a structured programme for players, in an enjoyable environment that maximises player development.

It is highly likely that the game in the future will be quicker, more technical and tactical, and the demands on our younger players will be elevated. Through a planned, consistent approach to training, based around principles of Long Term Player Development, BBAFC Skills Centres will provide a perfect start for players wishing to reach the highest level.

The BBAFC “Talent Program” pathway offers players, who are showing particular potential, additional football with a higher level of competition. BBAFC Skills Centres offer weekly training to junior footballers aged 9-12 years. This provision involves players being challenged appropriately, enhancing their opportunity of further development. Players operating within this pathway will accumulate a greater amount of football specific practice hours than their ‘Community Football’ counterparts and will be suitably prepared for 'Talent Development'  programmes available in the Youth Framework.

BBAFC have integrated the SDP (Skill Development Program) into the training sessions, so that the first training sessions of each week incorporates the Skill Center curriculum.

TALENT DEVELOPMENT/ ACADEMIES

The New Zealand Football (NZF) Talent Development Programme provides an aligned, co-ordinated approach to the development of high potential youth footballers, aged 13-17 years. The programme outlines the standards that clubs must meet as a part of gaining a New Zealand Football Regional Youth League Club License. Its main aim is to provide a challenging, structured programme for players, in an enjoyable environment that maximises player development.

We run a number of SDPs (Skill Development Program) through our Academies and these are run through out the year including a week in the holidays. Details are available closer to each Academy.
