TOURNAMENTS

We at Bucklands Beach believe in sending our teams to many Tournaments.  Firstly for the challenge and secondly for the fun of it.  Not exclusive to our top teams we try and send as many of our teams to various tournaments around the country and the occasional overseas trip.

Some of the Tournaments that are regular fixtures on our calendar include:

TAUPO - 9th - 15th Grade Boys and Girls

A fun weekend away for many of our teams at the McCartney Tournament held mid October each year at Taupo.  An invitational competition that we are fortunate to keep being invited back to each year.  Something that is looked forward to by all at the end of the regular season.

WEIR ROSE BOWL - 12 Grade Boys and Girls

The prestigious Weir Rose Bowl event is held at St Peters School, Cambridge early each October. In previous years, WAIBOP Football, Northern Football and Auckland Football have selected their Weir Rose Bowl teams from players participating in the NZF Skill Centre program within each Federation. However, with the recent move to establish NZF Skill Centre delivery in clubs, the three Federations have agreed to allow ‘approved’ clubs to enter teams in 2019.  BBAFC has attained the required approval and looks forward to sending teams each year.

In 2019 the boys came runners up in the final.

SYDNEY - 13th Grade Boys

The M Sports Cup (MSC) in Sydney Australia is an international football tournament for talented boys and girls. It is attended by Australian A League teams, New Zealand clubs and Australian National Premier League clubs. The tournament is hosted at Valentine Sports Park, Sydney, Australia, home of Football New South Wales.  Held during July school holidays.

In 2019 BBAFC came runners up in the final.

WESTERN SPRINGS U17 NATIONALS - Boys and Girls

After a successful 2019 Tournament, Western Springs AFC is once again stepping in to host and run the 2020 U-17 National Youth Tournament and the Youth Football Development Trust will be alongside as partners.  Held in March before the commencement of the regular season.

NAPIER U19 NATIONALS - Boys and Girls

Napier City Rover's play host to the biggest and most prestigious annual under 19 youth tournament in New Zealand.  Some of New Zealand’s top young football stars have descended on Park Island over the past three decades to compete for the top youth prize.  Every Labour weekend sees some of the biggest clubs from all over New Zealand  compete for the trophy. Over the years many young players have played in the tournament and went on to gain international status.

Having won the Men's Satellite competition in 2019 we find ourselves playing in the main draw from 2020.

"Young players need freedom of expression to develop as creative players... they should be encouraged to try skills without fear of failure"
