Match Reports 2008 22/07/08

6th Grade - Silver Whales - 14th June 2008

OPPOSITION: SILVER SEALS

RESULT: SILVER LOBSTERS 10-0 SILVER WHALES

PLAYER OF THE DAY: DANIEL JOON ANH

COACH: HAYDEN AND MIKE

Hello all once again, hope all is well and the winter blues have been kept well away from all of your families. First of all I would like to apologize for my lack of a match report in the last couple of weeks due to work commitments and a rugby trip to Wellington. That I know is a pretty lame excuse and really, truth is that I have just been plane lazy. Those players who missed out on player of the day reports were Mia Bolton and Daniel joon Anh.
Well this week we came up against the very well trained Seals and they gave us a good but fair beating. Sorry to sound so negative but if one day I am ever to become a sports writer for the Herald I need to start with the truth and then rattle off some niceties after that. The game started as any other, with the whistle and then the mighty Whales were into it. Benjamin Gits, Phoenix Wilson and Jayden Ruhe were once again giving the Seals the hurry up and adding huge pressure to a worried Seals attack force. Mia Bolton and Traye Wildbore tackled there little hearts out on defence and took no prisoners. Today’s player of the day though was the ever improving Daniel joon Anh who not once took a backwards step in defence and the Seals were left wondering how they could manage there play around such a solid little footballer. So, well done to Daniel and all my awesome Whales for keeping your heads high and never giving up.

p.s Thank you very much to Mia’s dad Martin for doing last weeks report, maybe I could keep you on in future when I once again get slack and lazy, thanks once again.

6th Grade - Silver Whales – 30th May 2008

OPPOSITION: SILVER SPRATS

RESULT: SILVER WHALES 2-3 SILVER SPRATS

PLAYER OF THE DAY: BENJAMIN

COACH: MARTIN BOLTON (STAND IN COACH)

Hi all – well how proud was the stand in coach.  Not only was he fortunate to have the sun and the crowd on his side, but also what an outstanding performance from all 6 players in the Whales team.  It was a tough start in the first third with 3 quick Orca goals but from then on it was all whales.
Some outstanding tackling from all of the team had the Orca’s on their heels (even their bums sometimes) with some great attacking play, hard running and clinical finishing the win could have gone either way.
It was great to see Benjamin back after illness to perform at his best and a well deserved player of the day for his effort in both defence and attach, well done Benjamin, see you on Saturday for more of the same.
Daniel and Jayden ran there legs off once again and with some serious tackling the Orca’s did not know where to turn at times.
The female duet of Phoenix and Mia had the Orca’s wondering why girls ran so fast and tackled so hard, and last but not least scream so hard after the Whales scored two goals….
Last but certainly not least was Tray.  What a game yet again, up and down the field and some of those long passes David Beckham would have been proud of.  A runaway through all the Orca’s saw Tray run the length of the pitch and soooooo unlucky not to slot the ball home.
If the crowd at Eden Park this weekend is half as excitable and noisy as those mum’s and dad’s last weekend England won’t know what’s hit them.
See you all Saturday morning, ready and raring to go and to show to your coach how much improvement you have made again in just over a week.
Congratulations once again to Benjamin for being the player of the day – great effort young man

6th Grade - Silver Lobsters – 30th May 2008

OPPOSITION: SILVER PIRANHAS

RESULT: SILVER LOBSTERS 3-4 SILVER PIRANHAS

PLAYER OF THE DAY: Davin Lees – Working as hard as possible all game

COACH: IAN BONIFACE

Unfortunately we had to face another tough opposition with a man down as Aakash was not well on the day.
On a beautiful sunny morning with loads of support on the sideline we hope for an action packed game & were certainly not disappointed.
Kaine once again showed all of his class right from kick off with what may be the quickest goal of the season so far. Our confidence was raised again with a couple more goals by Kaine & Jasmine supported by some excellent probing runs by Lucas & Dominic, and Davin constantly turning up where you don’t expect him to inject himself into the game and unsettle the oppositions attack.
After our initial success the momentum of the game swung the way of the Piranhas And their fresh players showed good ball skills. Once the goals started to come for them we were a little guilty of heads dropping but another goal from Kaine lifted us in the last couple of minutes making it a very close finish
Great battle guys.

6th Grade - Silver Lobsters – 23rd May 2008

OPPOSITION: SILVER SPRATTS

RESULT: SILVER LOBSTERS 2-4 SILVER SPRATTS

PLAYER OF THE DAY: Dominic Thomson – Lots of hard work & great speed.

COACH: IAN BONIFACE

Being back to full strength with Dominic’s return we were confident of a good fast game. With it being a bit cooler and a few coughs & sniffs we knew that we needed to get moving quickly to keep ourselves warm.
The first third started off well with good levels of pressure from all of the lobsters. Once again Kaine & Jasmine pushed hard up from and broke the defense a couple of times giving us a couple of good goals putting us in front. After the first break and a quick lineup change the game swung the way of the Spratts and they showed good skills to get a few goals back from us and move themselves into the lead.
The final third seemed to have a shift again and both teams seemed to cancel each other out somewhat, meaning it was a tough end to end game. Dominic showed his excellent skills and speed, which was called on several times as a defender chasing down a speedy attacker, Aakash, Lucas & Davin again all worked so hard getting involved more & more each week and learning heaps in the process.
You are all stars.
Good game team.

14th Grade - Girls - 23rd May 2008

What an amazing way to end the grading round. You all played extremely well. Thank you Lauren H for volunteering to stand down this week, once again someone steps up and makes my job a pleasure, Thank You!!!!..

Performance on Saturday was second to none, control, energy, and willingness to play football was outstanding, you absolutely cut them to pieces, they had no answer!!!!. The only thing we need to do is put the ball past their keeper and not into her hands and we won 7++ to nil. They had nothing in attack due to some enthusiastic chasing back and defending by Grace, Hayley, Lauren C, Chelsea, Lisa, Joanne. You stood up and showed them that you never back down cleared the ball when you had to and passed when it was on, you lot were fabulous.

Can’t say enough about how well you ALL played, can’t even sleep in ( started writing at 7.30am on a SUNDAY!!!! ) Lydia, Ashley A, Rebecca in the midfield just took the match by the scruff of the neck with control and non stop pressure on Manurewa’s midfield, they had no answer to your relentless pressure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. One of the big things I noticed on Saturday was the amount of players sitting in front of goal ready to score, first half opportunities were one after the other and you got shots away which is what it is all about.

What I like is the midfield supported the front players as well as taking shots, great.

Our wing play from first half Hayley and second half Ashley A and Nicole T for the entire game was great, wide play cutting back, you lot from the very start were like a can opener on their team, you just opened them up, dragged players wide put balls back into the middle. Awesome!!!!!!!.

Not sure if you noticed Hayley but when you just followed their number 7 and literally forced her to put the ball out for our throw, rather then trying to get the ball, # 7 was so frustrated by your presence her body language was down for all the game, really can’t say enough about that type of play….No options for the opposition means you are just are controlling the game without the ball!!!!!

Upfront with Nicole L, Timea, Amy, all looked great and your team could only ask one thing of you,,,,don’t stop doing what your doing. Pressure Pressure Pressure!

Any other keeper you would have scored many goals, that girl last year at 12 years old made the Auckland under 13 and the Weir Rosebowl top side, supposedly the number one keeper in Auckland for her age????...I now one that could be better!!!! Well if we can put it past her next time and not at her you will thrash Manurewa.

Comments after the game from players.

Nicole Loader "We trusted each other"

Lydia "I didn’t strike because I wasn’t comfortable"

If that’s how you are thinking after 7 weeks you are scaring me, I look forward to the next 10!!!!!!. Cause by then I am expecting great thing because trusting each other in how we play is the biggest step in the right direction and shooting ONLY when you are comfortable is what I have been asking for, brilliant!!!!!!...

As I said at half time IF they score it will be luck not their skill that gets the goal and I don’t mind losing to a team that flukes the win, frustrated by it, but not a victory in my book.

See you Monday

You lot rock!!!

Happy coach!!!

Carl

6th Grade - Silver Whales - 17th May 2008

OPPOSITION: SILVER SQUIDS

RESULT: SILVER SQUIDS 4-2 SILVER WHALES

PLAYER OF THE DAY: TRAYE WILDBORE

COACH: HAYDEN AND MIKE

Hello once again to all. Well Saturday morning rolled around once more and after a coffee or two I, along with many other parents were off to football for a great early morning sports fix. For the ever improving, Silver Whales today’s fixture could not have come sooner with all my eager footballers once again turning up like they were the ones that had the coffees and probably Red Bulls. Where do they get such energy? From the outset the Whales got stuck in with Daniel joon Ahn  once again showing how far his football has improved this season. Mia Bolton and Jayden Ruhe were once again relentless on attack and defence while Phoenix Wilson made the squids think twice about dribbling in her direction. For the Whales player of the day Traye Wildbore played a great all round game with some thumping kicks downfield, some solid tackling and a few close misses at goal. Well done Traye on a great performance along with all your Whales team mates and great goals. They were just awesome. A special mention and get well soon goes out to Benjamin Gits who unfortunately has come down with the Chicken Pox. Hope you feeling better and you back soon as the Whales are missing you and we will be a much stronger team with you back. Cheers Whales and make sure your rooms are clean and the dishes and lawns are done, toddle pip

6th Grade - Silver Lobsters - 17th May 2008

OPPOSITION: SILVER OTTERS

RESULT: SILVER LOBSTERS 2-7 SILVER OTTERS

PLAYER OF THE DAY: Kaine Bradley – Constant hard work & tireless effort.

COACH: IAN BONIFACE

With the sun shining and it being nice & warm everybody arrived keen as mustard again. Unfortunately with Dominic still in Aussie we only had 5.
The Otters started well and played a good attacking expansive game which stretched us a little leaving a few gaps which they managed to exploit. Kaine played his usual busy game with both defensive & attacking runs. Jasmine, Aakash & Lucas ran tirelessly and managed to upset several of their attacking runs. Davin returned after a week off to defend bravely until injury ended his game prematurely. After he left the field we were pinned on our line for a while facing some great attacking and passing skills from the otters which resulted in a few more unanswered goals.
This momentum continued until Otters kindly offered us a couple of players which gave us a chance to rest and recharge and allowed Kaine & Jasmine to capitalize with a couple of good goals.
Well done again Lobsters. You put up a good fight.

Good game Otters. Great skills

6th Grade - Silver Lobsters - 10th May 2008

OPPOSITION: SILVER WHALES

RESULT: SILVER LOBSTERS 11-0 SILVER WHALES

PLAYER OF THE DAY: LUCAS BONIFACE - for working really hard for the whole game

COACH: IAN BONIFACE

We knew we had our work cut out for us when we had to face a well drilled opposition & only had 4 players. This meant full commitment by everybody for the whole game.
After suffering a heavy loss last week, the pre-match drills consisted of some tackling practice which really seemed to help, with all players seeming to become more confident.
Right from kick-off our “goal scoring machine” Kaine took to the task at hand and relentlessly exploited what space was available scoring 9 goals. The other 2 goals were excellently finished by Jasmine, and the smile that followed was absolutely priceless.
Lucas & Aakash ran themselves into the ground with constant chasing, tackling & running (sometimes even the wrong way).
There were certainly some very tired kids at the end of it but big smiles as well.
Well done Whales, you all played a great game. I don’t think the score is a real reflection of how well you guys competed.

RESULT: SILVER LOBSTERS 11-0 SILVER WHALES

PLAYER OF THE DAY: DANIEL JOON ANH

COACH: HAYDEN AND MIKE

Another Saturday morning comes around and the weather gods were not so kind to us with light drizzle and threatening rain but it did not dampen the Whales spirits as they once again turned up to the park with beaming smiles. Benjamin Gits and Traye Wildbore once again gave there all in all aspects of the game while Phoenix Wilson, Jayden Ruhe and Mia Bolten continued there great form with another non-stop performance. Pick of the bunch this week went to Daniel joon Anh who over the last few weeks has really come out of his shell and is starting to really get stuck in to his football and also giving the opposition a real headache when he presses forward on attack. Congratulations to you Daniel and keep up the great work. Finally to my Whales, you are all doing just great and I cant wait for next Saturday, so keep your rooms tidy and help mum and dad with the lawns and dishes and I will see you then. Cheers

6th Grade - Silver Whales - 3rd May 2008

OPPOSITION: SILVER KINGFISH

PLAYER OF THE DAY: PHOENIX WILSON

COACH: HAYDEN AND MIKE

Another cold but fine morning dawned on us once more as the Silver Whales took to the football field for the third time this season. Another great game played by Mia Bolten and Jayden Ruhe and awesome effort and team work from Benjamin Gits, Daniel joon Ahn, and Traye Wildbore. The kids seem to be having plenty of fun and that makes myself as a parent thrilled to see the children having a go and enjoying themselves. A special mention must go to Phoenix Wilson for her outstanding defence and eagerness to get stuck in. Phoenix was definitely the reason some of the oppositions shots at goal, were either kicked firmly away or the pressure she placed on them made there shots go well off target. So - well done to Phoenix and to all the Whales. You are all making your coach and all your parents very proud. Looking forward to next weekend, cant wait!!!.

6th Grade - Silver Lobsters - 3rd May 2008

OPPOSITION: SILVER SEALS

RESULT: SILVER LOBSTERS 1-10 SILVER SEALS

PLAYER OF THE DAY: AAKASH PRASAD - for lots of hard work showing great determination

COACH: IAN BONIFACE

With plenty of rain overnight and it getting a bit colder we really needed the warm-ups again to prepare us for a tough match.
Early in the first third it was evenly balanced with the Seals scoring a good goal and Kaine keeping us in it with a great individual run resulting in what was our only goal of the day.
All of our players showed excellent determination throughout all thirds but we were not able to take advantage of the few chances which came our way. Even when we brought on a fifth player the Seals just seemed to have a little more pace and the ability to find the gaps. It seemed a little like one way traffic for a while but at least we got some good kick-off practise.
Again Kaine showed some good ball skills and speed and on several occasions came close but eventually dropped back into a more defensive roll. Aakash, Jasmine & Dominic showed some real determination in chasing and tackling hard with Lucas & Davin again working hard to try and get in the way of the Seal attack from the back and swing the game more our way.

Well done Team. You all fought well. Well done Seals. Good skills

OPPOSITION: SILVER PIRANHAS

RESULT: SILVER WHALES 2-8 SILVER PIRANHAS

PLAYER OF THE DAY: JAYDEN RUHE

COACH: HAYDEN WILDBORE

Hello everyone, hope all is well. For our second weekend of Football ever, the Silver Whales once again showed up full of excitement with an energy in which only a child under six can show at that time of the morning. Much to the delight of the parents we were given the later game at 9 so this week breakfast lasted for about ten minutes instead of two like the previous weekend. Anyway - enough of the dribble, WE SCORED OUR FIRST TWO GOALS. Yep, that’s right, if only I could have bottled up the emotions all of the children showed after that first goal. It was priceless. Benjamin Gits had some good little runs with the ball at his feet and some great encouragement from his Father on the sideline. Well done. Daniel joon Ahn, Phoenix Wilson and Traye Wildbore were awesome in defence and attack helping their team mates out. Also throughout the entire game with some good chanting coming from the sidelines while they were substitutes. Mia Bolton who was last week’s player of the day was again outstanding and played with lots of passion and controlled aggression. Jayden Ruhe was every where from the first whistle to the last and played like he had been playing for three or four years. Jayden has a great sporting mind and is going to be a great natural sportsman. Jayden was the well deserved player of the day. Well done Jayden. Finally team, I would like to thank you for the happiness you bring to your parents even though you may not understand that just yet.
Thank you and here’s hoping more goals and just as much fun next week
Cheerio  (PS)WE SCORED TWO GOALS YIPPEEEEEEEE

OPPOSITION: SILVER ORCAS

RESULT: SILVER LOBSTERS 7-3 SILVER ORCAS

PLAYER OF THE DAY: JASMINE THOELL - for lots of hard work & great encouragement for her team-mates

COACH: IAN BONIFACE

Another fine Saturday morning but getting a little colder so the pre game drills became a good warm-up session. This put us in good stead for an action packed game against a very skilful opposition.
The first third was a bit of an arm-wrestle with the Orcas taking going ahead with some excellent goals until last weeks missing player Dominic, cut through the defence to score a brilliant first up goal. Very deserved after some excellent team work leading up. Last weeks player of the day Kaine made some very strong runs and good finishing keeping us in the game.
For most of the remainder of the game Lucas & Davin defended well at the back using great spoiling tactics to unsettle the Orcas attack. Aakash & Jasmine worked tirelessly around the midfield encouraging the rest of the team & feeding the ball through to Kaine & Dominic where Kaine showed some real speed & dominance scoring several more goals with a few other chances by him, Aakash & Dominic coming close.

OPPOSITION: SILVER SPRATS

RESULT: SILVER WHALES 0-12 SILVER SPRATS

PLAYER OF THE DAY: MIA BOLTON

COACH: HAYDEN WILDBORE

Hello everyone, welcome to the first of many match reports this season. Firstly I would like to thank our opposition for the day, (the Sprats) for such a great game. Well a very early start to the day but the weather played its part and all the kids look pretty excited on arrival. From the first whistle our two young girls Mia Bolton and Phoenix Wilson got stuck in and gave the boys a bit of a hurry up. With some good passing and strong kicking they soon had us up the field and on attack. Daniel joon Ahn and Benjamin Gits were tireless on defence and never gave up no matter what. Jayden Ruhe played a solid all round game always keen to attack but also falling back to defend when ever needed., he had a good feel for where to be and when. Traye Wildbore made some great breaks with Jayden up the middle of the field and only just missed the goal on a couple of occasions. Mia Bolton on four or five occasions chased the Sprats main strike weapon and not once did she ever give up. She showed great determination and the pressure she applied resulted in quite a few missed opportunities. So all and all a very good start to the season and as a coach I am very proud of all of you. Let’s keep having lots of fun and soon we will get our first goal.YIPPEE

3rd Grade North Town - Milan - 5th April 2008

OPPOSITION: WESTERN SPRINGS 10 RED

RESULT: SPRINGS 4-1 BBAFC

PLAYER OF THE DAY: ALISTER KINCAID

COACH: AARON HARTLEY

Whilst not reflected in the score, this was a great first outing for the team. With a mix of both new-comers and follow on players from previous years, the team worked well as a unit with all players looking for and creating gaps.

Some great defensive work by the ‘girl power’ of Morgan Blackmore & Courtney Chellew made the opposition work hard to capitalize on their scoring opportunities.

A new player to the code this year, Taylor Clare, put in a huge effort in both his first half goal keeping and second half forward play duties.

The mid field attack and defense was controlled largely by Bradley Hartley, who possibly put in the best effort I have witnessed from him during his time with BBAFC

The forward efforts of Luke Harding, Jamie Pearson, Daniel Kyle, Nicholas Voykovich, John Bulay are to be commended.

John Bulay also took up the challenge of goal keeping in the second half.

Our player of the day, Alister Kincaid, took advantage of the opportunities afforded him and was unlucky on several occasions (as were all our forwards) not to score the much needed goals. Alsiter demonstrated some fantastic individual skills whilst still being aware that soccer is a team game.

Western Springs fielded a determined and talented team that benefited from their height advantage.

As a coach and parent, I am proud of the effort put in by the team. We had a great game, we displayed a desire to work as a team and most importantly, WE HAD A GREAT TIME!!

In the competition the lads completed 6 wins and 3 draws of which 2 were against the 1 st and 2 nd placed sides and finished 3rd! They remained undefeated in all 15 games throughout the season and scored 68 goals and conceded only 12.

It is important to note that all of our players are actually 9 th Graders playing in 10 th Grade!!

Despite the age and sometimes huge physical difference our lads played with terrific commitment, enthusiasm and skill throughout the season. The improvement shown by each player individually and as a team unit has been outstanding and is testimony to their work ethic at practice and team spirit.

We have been lucky to have not only a great bunch of lads (not one complaint all year) but also a fantastic group of supportive parents which made a significant difference – thank you to all who supported the lads.

Well done to everyone on a most enjoyable season!

Bryan Young, Mike Nevines, Mike Fairweather.

10th Grade Div 1 match report 28th July

What a great turn out by the parents to support the boys in their final game of the season against Eastern Suburbs. The boys played really well, with some exceptional passing resulting in goals being scored. Joshua our goalie even had some time out on the pitch, while Myles went into goal. The team is undefeated for the season resulting in being championship winners of our division. Well done boys, what a great season. Thanks to everyone who has supported the team, the time and effort our coach Dennis has put into them, and the effort the boys have shown not only on Saturdays but at practice every week.

Goals were scored by Alex 2, Joshua 2, Mark 1, Taylor 1, final score 6-0.

13th Grade Girls Division match report 15th July

It seems like "Girls Rule" at Bucklands Beach soccer club, with all three girls teams leading their respective divisions with half the competition complete. The 13th grade division 2 girls have reversed the results of losses in the first round against both Birkenhead and Bay Olympic sides in the last two games to now have a 4 games / 4 wins record with 5 games remaining. This weeks encounter is against Western Springs "springers" and although this team have yet to record a win in the championship round, our approach will be the same as we have adopted against the leading teams. Now that we have managed wins over sides seeded second and third after the grading round, the girls 13th grade /2 have yet to play the sides seeded third (eastern suburbs gold) to be played at Lloyd Elsmore on 29/7, and the only other unbeaten side, and number one seeded side, Pukekohe, which is set down to be played as an away game and the last game of the season. All going well in our corner, this could shape up as the "final" and the result finding the championship winners of our division. Our girls are shaping up well and enjoying their football. We have no injury problems, our training attendances have been close to 100% for some time now, and the level of confidence and self belief within the team has never been better all year. .....So fingers crossed, and hoping we can maintain this unbeaten record till the end of the round!

10th Grade Div 1 match report 4th July

What a great day weather-wise the sun was shining. The boys turned out in great form to play Fencibles. Joshua secured our first goal after a few minutes of play; he just didn’t stop scoring - a total of 5 goals. Myles got a great goal taking the ball all the way up to score. The whole team played exceptionally well, with the strikers being on the ball throughout the game and the defense defending everything that came their way. Joshua (goalie) was on fire, sending the ball to the far end of the pitch every time. Well done boys what a great game and good win. Player of the Day went to Joshua Smith for outstanding play and team work. Final Score being 6-2 to BBAFC.

Barcelona vs Porter match report 20th May

This was a hard game for Barcelona. There was lots of good play with William saving a few goals. The final score was 7 nil - the other team had such a good defence.

Barcelona played well in the "mud bath" with lots of slippery kicks, good runs and fast running. Thank goodness our team did not have white shorts like the other team.

Harry Jones wins the "player of the day". He was not scared of getting dirty and really put some gritty effort in. Attached is a pic of Harry.

Well done everyone!

9th Grade Liverpool match report 20th May

Liverpool again played with tenacity, extending their unbeaten run this season., Being 1-0 up for the first half, it semed an easy cruise to the end, holding the opposition well.

But the wolves came back strong at the beginning of the second half and scored in the first five minutes. 1-1.

Liverpool stuck to what they do best, keeping posession, and apassing the ball like pros, and added another two goals in the second half. YES done it again 3-1 win againt the wolves from Ellerslie - Player of the Day Ryan Mingard, for good passing skills and scoring a goal.

10th Grade Div 1 match report 20th May

An entertaining game against Ellerslie with the boys showing that passing the ball and backing up can bring the goals.

With just 2 goals in the first half the team really put it together in the second half winning 9 goals to nil.

Player of the day was Garret McCombe who was very skillful and strong in both attack and defence.
